FAILURE, A ROAD MAP TO SUCCESS: Steve Jobs


Steve Jobs (1955–2011) was the co-founder of Apple Computers. Through Apple Computers, he pioneered a series of revolutionary technologies, including the iPhone and iPad, which are successful today.

Childhood

Steve was born in San Francisco, California, on February 24 1955, to two University of Wisconsin graduate students who gave him up for adoption. He was later adopted by Clara and Paul Jobs and named Steven Paul Jobs.as always an intelligent and innovative thinker.

Though as a youth, he had frustrations over formal schooling that his fourth-grade teacher needed to bribe him to study. He dropped out of college after six months due to lack of direction and spent the next 18 months dropping in on creative classes at the school. In the summer of 1968, the 13-year-old Steve gets a summer job at the HP factory. In 1976, when Jobs was just 21, he and Wozniak started Apple Computer.




Apple Computers


In 1985 Jobs was fired from Apple and immediately founded another computer company, NeXT. . Two years later, $20 million was invested in NeXT by Ross Peret, based on a $125 million valuation. In 1889, Steve Jobs is named 'Entrepreneur of the decade' by Inc. magazine. That same year, Canon invests $100 million in NeXT, now valued at $600 million.


Its machines were not a commercial success but some of the technology was useful to Apple. By Dec 1996, Apple, which was desperately looking for a modern operating system to buy, eventually buys NeXT for $400 million. So, in 1996 Apple bought NeXT and Jobs returned to Apple, becoming its CEO.

Steve and his partner, Steve Wozniak are credited with revolutionizing the computer industry by democratizing the technology and making the machines smaller, cheaper, intuitive and accessible to everyday consumers. In addition, Steve Jobs is inducted in the California Hall of Fame by Gov. Schwartzenegger on the 5th of December, 2007.

Illness

Prior to the induction, Steve was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2003, but stubbornly refuses any modern medical treatment for months. He tries alternative diets instead. By August 2004, Steve Jobs finally has his pancreatic tumor removed by surgery.
 
However, in August, 2011, Steve resigns as CEO of Apple, with the words 'I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple's CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.' Tim Cook becomes Apple CEO. On the 5 Oct 2011, Steve Jobs dies at home, surrounded by his family
