Giuliana was born on August, 17, 1974, Naples, Italy to Eduardo and Anna DePandi and immigrated to Maryland at age 7, along with her family. As a new immigrant, her English skills were close to zero.

In the United States, Giuliana attended Walt Whitman High School, after which she enrolled into University of Maryland, where she studied journalism. She continued her studies at the American University School of Communication and eventually earned a masters degree in the same field.Career
