Benefits of Olive Oil on our Skin

People often think that olive oil is not good for us, particularly as regards our waistline and our heart. However, it has been confirmed that it is good for us due to its content of monounsaturated fat, which are known to bolster cardiovascular health. The Phoenicians, Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans used olive oil as an anti-aging remedy.
Olive Oil
Olive is abundantly produced in many parts of the world and is readily available both in extract form and as an ingredient of many organic skin care products. Olive oil contains four major antioxidants, such as Vitamin A and Vitamin E, which allow it to work as cleanser, moisturizer, and protector of skin.
Owing to this, olive oil can be used in diverse ways and measures such as;

 As Body Cream or Butter
• Olive oil can be bobbed on the body after shower. Make sure you give yourself time before getting dressed because it stays greasy and takes a little while to get absorbed.
• Olive oil could also be mixed with shea butter or bees wax to make a great body butter
• To speed up the absorption, a little aloe vera could be added. This will improve the absorption of any oil into your skin.

As Body Butter
As an Exfoliator
• Mix it with sea salt and rub it over the body.
• Sea salt, combined with olive oil will remove dead skin cells and leave the skin looking renewed and often glowing.

As a face mask
• Blend 1 tbsp. of honey, with 1 tbsp. olive oil and one egg yolk together till they become a paste
• Apply on an already clean-washed face. * A tea spoon of lemon could be added to brighten up your face.
• Let this mask stay for about 30 minutes.
• Then, wash it off with lukewarm water and later cold water to close pores. This will leave the face moisturised and maintaining the natural skin tone.
*This face mask can be used for normal or dry skin types.

As Face Mask

For nail and cuticle care
• Some drops of extra virgin olive oil into the cuticle area and around the nails helps the cuticles stay moist and nails remain shiny.
• To get strong fingernails and soften cuticles, dip your nails in olive oil once a week. It also helps in moisturizing the nail bed.

As eye-makeup remover
 • Apply a little bit of olive oil on a cotton pad (or on a damp cotton pad) and gently wipe away all the makeup from your face.
 • If you have a heavy makeup on, massage olive oil all over your face, and then wipe it off with a washcloth saturated with warm water (Repeat a few times if necessary).
• Rinse your face with warm, then with cold water to stimulate the blood circulation and close pores. *This will also ensure that there are no traces of makeup left on the skin.
At the moment, my younger sister and I have ditched labeled body creams for Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) and it is working wonders on our skin. In addition, we rub the EVOO only on our faces after taking our night bath every night. This has greatly improved the velvety feel and glow on our skin. This is my testimony of EVOO. I will like to know your experiences with EVOO also. Please, kindly share your experiences and opinions on the use of EVOO.
